Ouzoud Waterfall

Ouzoud waterfalls

These spectacular waterfalls, considered among the highest and most beautiful in Morocco, often dominated by a rainbow, lie in a rural green oasis-like wadi/valley of red sandstone, planted with olive groves, almond trees, fig trees, and other carob trees, or a dozen small traditional oil mills are still in operation...

The Ouzoud waterfalls can be visited over 1 day and are accessible from the small town of Aït Aâtab, approximately 25 km away, coming from Béni Mellal or Marrakech, through the sugar town of Oulad Ayad, from the province of Fkih Ben Salah.

The tourist site, calm and natural, entirely pedestrian, offers numerous campsites based on rudimentary bamboo and reed cabins/huts, swimming places, small restaurants on the terrace serving Berber cuisine, Moroccan craft shops from the High Atlas, the along a pedestrian path which goes down to the foot of the waterfall.

Although classified as SIBE, this site is increasingly distorted by tourist activities. These particularly affect the behavior of wild Berber macaques, but accustomed to receiving food from tourists. Waste and wastewater are often directly discharged on site, particularly into the wadi. Every year, new businesses appear, gradually eating away at the vegetation that once provided shelter for local wildlife.
